Mike Hesson Hopes Pakistan Will Bring Their Best Game in Tri-Series Final

Even though Pakistan has already secured a position in the decider with three consecutive league stage victories, head coach Mike Hesson is confident that his team would play their best cricket in the tri-series final against Sri Lanka on October 31 at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

Mike Hesson admitted that the team had done well but had not yet realized its full potential.

So far this season, Shaheen Afridi and his teammates have won three games and lost one.

Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by 37 runs on October 18, 2026, and England by 87 runs on October 20, 2026, both at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. On October 25, 2026, Pakistan defeated England by one wicket at the Gaddafi Stadium, with Shadab Khan scoring his first ODI century. This was their third consecutive triumph. Pakistan got to the final on October 27, 2026, after losing against Sri Lanka by eight wickets at the Gaddafi Stadium. On their day off before the final, the team returned to training at the LCCA Ground in Lahore.

Mike Hesson has led Pakistan’s white-ball team to 12 wins from 19 ODIs during his nearly one-year tenure as head coach. Pakistan has won one-day international series against Australia, Sri Lanka, and South Africa under his leadership.

Hesson commended Shaheen and other bowlers, such as youthful Arafat Minhas, Haris Rauf, and Naseem Shah.
